The 2019 Leather Back Turtle Route 2019 Downwinder is the Biggest Kitesurfing event ever organize in Puerto Rico. The event was set with over 65 kiters and 17 knots of wind. In 2018 we set new record of 75 Kitesurfing athletes in this event.
That day was a bright, clear and beautiful day. The wind was in their favor. The marine conditions were perfect. Our kiters not only enjoyed the beauty of the north coast crossing the 22 kilometres all the way from Ocean park Beach in San Juan to Playa el Unico in Dorado Puerto Rico. The Athletes had opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking view of old San Juan, La Perla, El Morro and Isla de cabras.

The Wind Addiction compromise with the marine environment we had the group 7 Quillas Grupo Tortuguero set up base with information about the importance of conservation and protection of the Leatherback Turtle during its nesting season as it is an endangered species. 7 Quillas Grupo Tortuguero is a community group that collaborates with the Dept. of Natural Resources (DNRA) and with the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife in theconservation of the Leatherback Turtle.
